Hans Peter Stihl is awarded Honorary Citizenship by the southern Brazilian city of São Leopoldo. The city council president states that this honour is in recognition of social and environmental responsibility since the establishment of the production site in 1973.

2011: Eva Mayr-Stihl honoured
Eva Mayr-Stihl is presented with the Cross of Merit First Class, Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In addition to her contribution to the company’s success, it recognises her many years of volunteer work and the charitable work of the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation.
2012: New Advisory and Supervisory Board chairs
Dr Nikolas Stihl takes over as Chairman of the STIHL Group Advisory and Supervisory Boards. Hans Peter Stihl is named Honorary Chairman Eva Mayr-Stihl remains Deputy Chairwoman of the Advisory Board. This ensures that strategic leadership will continue to be defined by the descendants of the company founder in the future.
2012: Stihl family honoured
In 2012, Eva Mayr-Stihl becomes citizen of honour of the city of Waiblingen, Dr Nikolas Stihl receives the Tyrolean Order of the Eagle in Gold, and Hans Peter Stihl is presented with the Dieselmedaille.
2013: New sales companies in Serbia and Colombia
STIHL opens two new sales companies: one of them in Belgrade, which is responsible for Serbia as well as Montenegro, and the other one in Colombia, with its headquarters in Rio Negro.
2014: Expansion in Prüm
A new production hall is opened for STIHL magnesium die casting. The total investment volume for the expansion with additional floor space of 2,430 m² for production and tool storage is 4.9 million euros.
2015: Finland sales company
A new sales company for Finland is opened. STIHL employees, STIHL dealers and representatives of the press take part in the opening celebrations on in Vantaa on 20 March.

2010: MS 261 – the son and heir
The new saw – ideal for thinning, small wood harvesting and felling moderate growth. It is the successor to the MS 260, long the world’s best-selling professional chainsaw for the forest industry.
2011: STIHL brush cutter with M-Tronic technology
The STIHL FS 490 C-EM, FS 510 C-EM and FS 560 C-EM brush cutters are equipped with the fully electronic engine management M-Tronic that precisely controls the ignition timing and fuel dosage in any operating state. STIHL 2-MIX technology makes the engines particularly environmentally friendly to operate.
2011: STIHL TS 500i with electronic injection
The TS 500i cut-off saw is the world’s first hand-held, motorised power tool with electronically controlled injection. STIHL injection optimises engine starting and performance with electronic ignition map control, eliminating the need for a carburettor and thereby significantly reducing the design size and weight.
2012: Breakthrough with the GS 461 stone cutter
With its premium diamond cutting chain, the GS 461 is suitable for making cuts and openings in concrete, natural stone and sewer pipes up to a depth of 40 cm.
2013: STIHL MS 661 C-M: the lightest in its class
The STIHL MS 661 C-M chainsaw features a low power to weight ratio of 5.4 kW at just 7.4 kg – making it the lightest chainsaw in its engine displacement class.
2014: The STIHL TSA 230 cut-off saw

2015: BGA 100 blower with battery backpack
